The City of Boerne is giving away 150 Trees To Boerne Utilities Customers

It’s Wednesday February 25th.

And quietly born on this date in 1943 - George Harrison.  He would have been 83 today.  He was the youngest Beatle, and he had already played in America the year before the famous 1964 invasion with another band, and when the Beatles broke up in 1970 he was only 27 years old.  All things must pass.

Happy Boerne Birthday to Fred Raley celebrating #76 today, Sara Primary Lieck, Shane Diehl and a wonderful mother we love and founder/creator of Boerne Love - Saige Diaz!  Happy Birthday all.

A lot of movement on Main Street as Pixies and La Te Da are joining forces and are moving across the street to the front part of the Cypress Grill Bar area.  The new entry way for Cypress Grill is back to its original south side entrance. The new Pixies and La Te Da will open up in April, but will be closed today thru Friday for a fumigation project for Dry Wood Termites.  Elite Exterminating CEO and President Debbie Aguirre says dry wood Termites have plagued Boerne for 80 plus years.

That number again is 800-498-8939. Look for their huge red white and blue tarp covering the whole building and that’s in honor of Elite Exterminating Founder’s Military Service.

Yesterday afternoon a massive fire broke out north of Fredericksburg up State Highway 16 in Gillespie County. They’ve named it the Nebo Mountain Fire, and was about 15 acres wide at 4:22 pm and in just a little over two hours, the fire spread to 250 acres and only 5% containment.  Last report its now over 1000 acres with 30% contained.  Just a reminder that here in Kendall County outdoor burning is still banned.

The City of Boerne is giving away 150 trees to Boerne Utilities customers. The Urban and Community Forestry Program has 10 different varieties you can choose from-Cedar Elm, Cottonwood and Bald Cypress just to name a few. The limit is one per customer, and you must show a current City of Boerne utilities bill to receive a tree. They will be giving them away next Friday on a first-come-first-serve basis in the green space between City Hall and the Patrick Heath Public Library.

Starting next Tuesday construction will begin near the front gate of Fair Oaks Parkway. Crews will be adding a left turn lane on the northbound section of the road, causing the closure of the central median. There will be a short detour put in place for about 3 weeks, and traffic impacts should be minimal.
