It’s Tuesday October 14th.

And born on this date in 1890 was the 34th President of the United States…Dwight D. Eisenhower.  The 5-star general was the first U.S. President to conduct a televised news conference. He was the first president to ride in a helicopter that would take him to Camp David which was named after his grandson.

You don't have to wait until the end of the school year to give that Chic-fil-a or traditions at the depot gift card in a coffee mug to your childs favorite teacher..., H-E-B’s Excellence in Education provides a spotlight for those who make a difference in our community. The categories you can nominate include Teacher, School Counselor, Principal, Early Childhood Facility, School Board, and School District.  Submit your nominee to heblovesteachers.com/apply/ by November 2nd.

Kendall County’s burn ban will likely extend through the end of the year, which of course will affect celebrations on New Years Eve.  A 90 day burn ban is being voted on in the Kendall County Commissioner's Court in the coming days, which is almost certain unless there is considerable rainfall.  And according to our weather veteran Jacques F. DuBose the next chance for rain is not for another week.

This Thursday Boerne Radio celebrates our 5th Anniversary at August House Fine Jewelry Boutique, a great place to get us a present but you don’t have to…in fact we’re there to bless you with excellent networking, food and drinks from Mae Dunne, and win door prizes.  And its free when you register at boerneradio.com

It goes from 4-6pm and then right after that head over to the Boerne Bookshop for their Whiskey and Wisdom club at 6 pm. The reading group will be taking a look at
“Unreasonable Hospitality” by Will Guidara, but will also take a vote on December’s book if you would like your opinion heard.

Boerne Radio News is delivered to you by The Boerne Star.
