Boerne Radio News is delivered to you by the Boerne Star.

And by Tapatio Springs Resort and their Ritz and Riches New Year's Eve Party tomorrow night!  Doors open at 6:30 - and the theme is a Roaring 20s Casino Night with Vegas Style Casino Tables…dinner buffet, live Music by the Dirty River Jazz Band….  And there are 2 ticket levels available - $120 gets you in that includes dinner…and $195 bumps you up to open bar status.  And the best idea is cash out, get your prizes, kiss at midnight, watch the fireworks, and then check into your Tapatio Springs Resort room…ask for the Stay and Celebrate Package when you get your tickets and book your room at tapatiosprings.com.

It’s Tuesday, December 30th.

And born on the same date are two guys from the same band…The Monkees.

Michael Nesmith was born in 1942 - and Davy Jones was born in 1945.  Michael Nesmith was born in Houston, but has a San Antonio connection in that he went through Lackland, and stayed in San Antonio after his discharge.  He went to San Antonio College and even won the SAC Talent Award singing folk songs.  In fact there’s a street named after him in Leon Valley.

Also sharing this Birthday date are some Boerne rock stars…Jenny Forks Ackel of JForksDesigns.com right here in Boerne, Tim Clarke a proud member of the Hill Country Fossil Club, and Taylor Chang - a great supporter of Kendall County Kids!

I’m Baron Wiley,

Boerne Utilities Director Mike Mann is set to retire in the new year after 25 years of leadership. In that time, Boerne has grown from 5,000 to 25,000, which has required Mann to expand the infrastructure into newly developed areas. Mike says the accomplishment he’s most proud of during his time with the City of Boerne has been the addition of the reclaimed water system, as well as their consistent and reliable service. In retirement, he hopes to enjoy downtime, learn new skills and restore his 1953 GMC Pickup.

For our friends in Fair Oaks Ranch, crews will be performing preventative maintenance on the HALT System on Rolling Acres Trail at Post Oak Creek until 4 today. Before then, drivers should expect delays as crews work on and test the system, so try to avoid the area if possible.

2026 is just a couple days away, and the concert calendar is the strongest its been in years.  Just in January, Morrissey is at the Boeing Center, Ray Wylie Hubbard is in New Braunfels, and Parker McCollum is at the Frost Bank Center.  Looking ahead to February Hank Williams Jr. is at the Rodeo, and Robert Earl Keen also at the Frost Bank Center, and in March…Both Heart and Robert Plant are at the Majestic, ZZ Top is there in April, and this summer in the Alamodome ACDC, Guns and Roses, Iron Maiden, and Megadeath. And don’t forget Rush in September at the Frost Bank Center.

It makes us proud that we play every one of these artists on Boerne Radio…except Iron Maiden and Megadeath…and not a whole lot of Guns and Roses…and we could probably play more Rush…so forget what I just said.
