It’s Monday December 29th.

On this date in 1845, Texas entered the Union as the 28th State and the only state to enter by treaty. Before that Texas had 4 presidents - Sam Houston, Mirabeau Lamar, Sam Houston again, and finally Anson Jones.  The first Governor of Texas was James Henderson.

And checking the Boerne Radio birthday Calendar, Happy birthday to Janine Smithies - she’s an executive Pastor at Cibolo Creek Community Church, also to Hailey Davis, Josh Dixon, and Morgen Bernhard.  If you have a birthday coming up, let us know when you take our music survey at boerneradio.com!

And New Years Day is this Thursday so the usual places will be closed with another quick reminder about garbage pick up - if your day is Thursday it’ll be on Friday, if your day is Friday then it moves to Saturday.  By now you should have received your official new trash and recycling day notice starting the week of January 5th.  The city of Boerne reminds you to place your carts at least three feet apart and 3 feet away from any obstacles like trees, cars, or mailboxes.

In your weekend edition of the Boerne Star, you read the full story that the Kendall County Commissioner's Court voted to honor two law-enforcement personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty. Memorial Markers could be placed on I-10 East for Officer Russell “Rusty” Salazar and Deputy Carlos “Smiley” Ramirez if the project is approved by TxDOT.
