And a couple of special birthdays to announce today…happy birthday to Lacey Barriga, and to my friend Mr. Bob Carnes - he’s turning 83 today and I’ve had the honor of working with him voicing his Memoir called The Least of These and it’s posted at boerneradio.com - check out the chapter on Charles Whitman who was the Texas Tower Sniper.  On that fateful day in Austin Bob Carnes was a journalist who took any and all pictures and film.  Happy Birthday Bob Carnes - looking forward to more stories of adventure and honoring your friends and family.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office urges you to make sure the vendor you are purchasing fireworks from actually has an Operational Firework Stand permit issued by the Fire Marshall’s Office before you buy. This permit confirms that the fireworks sold have been approved and should be visible at the stand.

Klein Smokehaus is celebrating 75 years of business here in Boerne, and they want to celebrate with you. The first 75 customers to stop by this Saturday between 11 and 1 will be treated to a chop BBQ sandwich special! That's the round bun sandwich, chips and a drink for free in honor of their time on Main Street. 

Looking back to the headlines of the Boerne Star in 1950 75 years ago, the Garden Guild of Boerne presented the Tableau of the Nativity Scene in Main Plaza on Christmas Eve, Raymond Marquardt came in first in the Boerne Shooting Club Tournament, the Camp Stanley Hill Country baseball team were the champions with Fred Pfeiffer, and 3 Minor brothers, and Top Hands will be providing the music for the Big Dance at the Fair Grounds on New Years Eve.  

For the third year in a row, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center has worked closely with B.I.G. Love Holiday Shoppe to provide gifts for families this season. This Christmas, 50 families with children battling cancer were able to choose from hundreds of gifts that were wrapped and ready, completely free of charge. Kiddos were also given delicious hot chocolate and decorated holiday ornaments to further celebrate.
