And by Mercy International based right here in Boerne.   Their Fall Banquet is coming up on Thursday October 8th at the Bevy Hotel where you’ll hear stories from Haiti where they have built homes, schools, churches, and provided healthcare with more compassionate care to come.  And you’re invited to come to.  Sponsor a table, bring a friend, and change a life with Mercy International - MercyINTL.org.

It’s Thursday September 24th.

And it was on this date in 1991 that Nirvana released Nevermind. The album went on to become one of the defining records of the 1990s, led by “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

The Boerne Star’s Veronica Rector attended the Kendall County Fair Association meeting on Tuesday that began and ended in multiple resignations. Wes Fleming, a fifth-year director and president of the KCFA, resigned prior to the meeting, which he did not attend. First Vice President Kim Flessner, who has been involved with the KCFA for 27 years, also stepped down, along with Luke Green, Jason Cheney and Gigi Glenn.  Some board members argued during the meeting that they had not voted to hold the session in the first place, making it impossible to vote on changes. Other directors disputed that claim. Despite questions surrounding the meeting’s validity, the directors remained during the nearly two-hour public forum, where parents of both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 Queens’ Courts raised various issues.

As of last night, the two wildfires in Kendall County are either entirely or almost entirely contained. The Edge Falls fire is at 95% contained, with crews continuing to monitor and mop up the remainder of the fire. The Lux Ranch Fire is completely contained. Black Rifle Coffee Company and Snowflake donuts did their part by donating coffee and breakfast to the hardworking crews.

The Big Give is on! This is a great opportunity to support the incredible local nonprofits working year-round to make a difference in our community. You can find a full list of nonprofits you can donate to at the link in the Boerne Radio news blog at boerneradio.com.

The Greater Boerne Chamber hosts a couple of ribbon cuttings today for Eager Plumbing and Charming Pet Rescue. Then from 4 until 6 this afternoon, Boerne ISD hosts the Chamber’s After Hours Mixer at Fabra Elementary. The event includes the district’s second annual Taste of Boerne ISD competition, along with student music, artwork, floral arrangements and other showcases.

And since tomorrow is September 25th that reads 9-2-5 and so Brantley’s Bistro and Bar celebrates Dolly Parton Day.  They are asking you to bring a children’s book to be donated to the Patrick Heath Public Library - music starts at 7:30.

Congratulations to Animal Control Officer Brittany Bradley on 5 years of dedicated service to Kendall County. She was recognized on Tuesday during the Kendall County Commissioner’s Court meeting and given a certificate from County Judge Shane Stolarczyk.
