Also brought to you by the 5th Annual Barktoberfest - this Saturday in Boerne Main Plaza - hosted by the Hill Country Animal League - enjoy the vendors, the music, the food trucks,  a great silent auction, and the kids will love the petting zoo, doggy dash races and pet adoptions happening there on the square.

Learn more about Barktoberfest at the website for Hill Country Animal League.

It’s Thursday October 16th.

On this day in Radio History, KDKA in Pittsburgh applied for the first commercial radio license in 1920. It made its debut on November 2nd, announcing the winner of the presidential election that term, Warren G Harding.

And just so you know, as KDKA is now 105 years old, Bofars Media Group celebrates our first 5 years of Boerne Radio today at August House Fine Jewelry Boutique at our Boost Boerne Business event from 4-6 - and here’s to another 100 more.

Also celebrating birthdays in Boerne today is Mr. Ernie DeWinne - a good day to buy a mower from DeWinne equipment, Honey harvester Johnny Monteverdi AKA Johnny D, and Justin Blohm…who celebrated an anniversary with Kim yesterday…today is his birthday!

The numbers are in at the Cibolo Center for Conservation took place over the weekend with their bioblitz and provided information on the wildlife-specifically the water snakes. They are vital to keeping the ecosystem going and give us a good idea of the water quality in the area, but also are incredibly smart and adaptive. In total, biologists tagged about 70 water snakes.  Their advice for you is to avoid killing them as they are necessary for the environment, and if a water snake drops out of tree and freaks you out, fear not…their biggest defense is to try and remain invisible, they bail out because they think you’ve seen it.  Good luck on not freaking out.

A City Contractor will be doing vegetation management and removing deadwood along Garden street today and tomorrow-to work safely, part of the road will be closed from 8:30 to 3 pm. The closed off section will be between Kitty Kat Lane and the northern gap between the medians, but driveway access along Garden street will remain open. If you accidentally turn onto the road, you will be able to u-turn back from whence you came.
