Today is Paul McCartney’s birthday he turns 84, and I know she won’t mind this - Selma Angelucci who’s leading the way at your Boerne Family YMCA is a huge Beatles fan and it’s her birthday today and wants to hear When I’m 64. Another rock star born today is your Boerne ISD Athletic Director Stan Leech, also happy birthday to Krista Foley, Chris Wolak, and Joe Jimenez.

The City of Boerne’s Communication and Civic Engagement Department has been recognized on a state and national level for their work. Chris Shaddock, the department’s director, is one of four finalists nationwide for the National Association of Government Communicators Rising Star Award. He joined the department in 2019, and has helped support pandemic communication efforts, launched myBoernenews.com, modernized emergency notification systems, and coordinated public outreach for major projects and initiatives. At the state level, the department earned a Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers Award of Honor in the Marketing Plan or Campaign category for cities with populations under 50,000.
The Boerne Parks and Recreation Department wants feedback on local parks, recreation amenities, community educational programming, and future expansion projects through a communitywide survey. Participants will be asked to identify the two City parks they visit most often, share feedback about those parks, and provide feedback on what would encourage them to visit more frequently. In music news NBC will air Alan Jackson’s Final Concert on Saturday June 27th. The event is called Last Call: One More For The Road - The Finale in Nashville. Featured guests will include George Strait, Lainey Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, and Keith Urban. Alan Jackson is dealing with CMT which is a neurological disease that affects the nerves connecting the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body that affects his balance and mobility.
Hill Country Family Services has a new wishlist for the Corner Cupboard for the month of June. This month they are asking for beef broth, canned chili, diced tomatoes, canned spinach and peaches, and rotel tomatoes.
