Born on this date in 1928 was Fats Domino, the American Singer Songwriter who Elvis deemed “the real King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”. He was honored as one of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

As of 8:44 pm last night, the Nebo Mountain Fire is 100% contained. In total, the fire raged across 1,160 acres, and although two outbuildings were lost, nobody was hurt. Cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office. Due to low humidity and high fire danger, there is a Red Flag warning in effect for Gillespie and for us as well here in Kendall County.  

The numbers are in! Empty Bowls Hill Country raised $11,043 to help support Hill Country Family Services and the Kendall County Woman’s Shelter.  HCFS thanks everyone who participated, whether as a volunteer, soup lover or creator of the bowls. 

Kendall County Republican Precinct Chair Art Humphries is stepping down, turning the duties over to Cordillera Ranch resident Nancy Shields, a former journalist and a longtime organizational executive.  Shields is currently serving as executive director of Texas Consumer Finance Association. Humphries said he intends to continue writing for the Boerne Star editorial page.
