It’s Presidents Day - a federal holiday so all your government offices are closed today - Born on this date in 1935 was Salvatore Sonny Bono, most famous for hits with Sonny And Cher like “I Got You Babe” and “The Beat Goes On”.  

And how about this…right here in Boerne, today is also Stephanie Fox’s birthday.

That’s what she said when we called her on Valentines Day to tell her she won the Boerne Radio Valentines Contest with no relation to J. Fox Custom Jewelers  who sponsored along with Mr Electric, Skin by Rebekah Valentine, Hotel Giles, Sunny’s, and The Tobin Center.

Fire Marshall Tommy Sings Sr.’s career began in February 1975 - and served this community to the last day.  His life was honored at First Baptist Church of Boerne over the weekend.

Jake Pratt, a sergeant in the New York Guard and a paraplegic, is getting a donated, state-of-the-art wheelchair after befriending Jason Tabansky, the U.S. Paralympic gold medalist who lives in Boerne. Tabansky put Pratt in contact with Wheelchairs for Warriors, which helps physically challenged service members achieve better mobility. On Wednesday there will be a ceremony at Black Rifle Coffee Company to take photos and Pratt’s measurements-he’ll also be able to choose the wheels, the casters, the cushions and thousands of other specifications. 

The City of Fair Oaks will be working on Dietz-Elkhorn Road this week starting today, requiring various and alternating lane closures. Work hours will be between 8 and 5 until Friday, and will stretch from the Summit Ridge area to Ralph Fair Road. Traffic will be maintained, but please expect slower travel times, flaggers and traffic control, and short delays while crews are on site.

The Boerne Chamber is hosting 3 ribbon cuttings this week. Tomorrow they will be helping unveil the new logo and website for Wise Investment Services at Das Greenhaus at 1:30. On Wednesday they will be celebrating The Kendall Gentleman in conjunction with their monthly mixer at The Swing Lab at 5 pm. And on Thursday they will cut the ribbon for Elara Aesthetics and Boutique at 1:30.
