It’s Monday April 29th.
And it was on this day in 1856 that a shipload of camels arrived at a Texas port. They were driven by land to Camp Verde in Kerr County and arrived there on August 27th. Secretary of War Jefferson Davis had urged Congress to bring the animals from North Africa to help the army in its Indian operations. Ultimately the experiment failed. Handlers found the animals smelly, and hard to control plus they spooked the horses.
This Wednesday Boerne Animal Care Services is holding a Rabies Vaccination and Pet Licensing Clinic. Considering there have been four cases of rabies in the area, it might be time to make sure your pets are vaccinated. You must register ahead of time, and the cost is only $20. You can find more information on the city of Boerne website.
Just two days left for early voting…today and tomorrow with those 3 City Council Seats on the ballot - District 1,3, and 5. And 3 places on the Boerne ISD School Board of Trustees. The Main Early Voting Location is the Kendall County Courthouse Annex which is across the street from the Boerne High School Baseball field off Esser. The official Election Day is this Saturday May 4th in the City Hall Training Room.
The Boerne Chamber has a big week ahead of them, starting tomorrow with a ribbon cutting for Space Maker’s Junk Removal at 11:30. And then Horst Wasel Consulting at 1:30. Then on Thursday is the warmup competition for Lemonade Day on Saturday to find out who has the best tasting lemonade in town!
