It’s Wednesday May 15th. 

And back in 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which this day falls, as National Police Week. Police Week is a time to recognize the great service law enforcement professionals provide to the community and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect.  If we don’t say it every day, thank you to our Boerne Police Department, and our Kendall County Sheriff's Office.  We also remember our heroes in Law enforcement who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty - Sheriff Edge in 1948,  Sheriff Kuebel in 1971, Trooper Kurt David Knapp in 2004,  Community Supervision Officer Russell Dean Salazar in 2019, and Deputy Carlos Ramirez in 2019.

The School Board had their regular meeting on Monday.  Judge Kirsten Cohoon swore in three trustees, Carlin Friar, Dallas Pipes and Courtney Darter-Bruce. These individuals will serve three-year terms, with Friar serving his 4th consecutive term. Furthermore, Jill Rhodes Pruin was also inducted as the new Chief Human Resources Officer. 

The City Council Meeting also took place last night, and here are some of the highlights. Mayor Richie declared that the week of May 5th through the 11th is Public Service Recognition Week. There was approval of road restriping around Boerne, Boerne received a plaque from the Texas Craft Brewers Guild recognizing Boerne as an inaugural Brew City along with 13 other Texas towns like Columbus, Drippings Springs, Nacogdoches, and New Braunfels, and the city council went over the elections for the various districts in our last election.
