We’ve just got word of Greyhound signing day on Thursday… 10 student athletes are putting pen to paper for their respective sports. And they are… Ava Renteria, Adyson Hudson, Ava Rocchio, Averi Hughes, Avery Ukeiley, Kailey Stringfellow, Dylan Perez, Brooks Perez, Hannah Dufresne, and Ben Niedecken… we’ll see you Thursday. Congratulations to all!

As you’ve probably heard by now, Geneva Volleyball won a 5-set, down-to-the-wire game against Hill Country Christian. Eagles are your regional champs and now it’s on to the state tournament. #TalonsUp

The Spurs get their 5th win of the season to go 5-6 on the year against Sacramento last night, 116-96. Tomorrow night at Frost Bank, they host Washington at 7.

It’s Tuesday November 12th. 

And born on this date in 1945...With a heart of gold Neil Young is still a young-79.

For several years, Neil Young has been promoting that Willie Nelson should be honored with a Nobel Peace prize for his work with Farm Aid, and his work on alternative fuels, and world peace initiatives. 

While Boerne City Hall, the Banks, the Post Office, the Chamber of Commerce and the Parks and Rec department were all closed yesterday, the City didn’t sleep on America’s finest on Veteran’s day. In Boerne’s Veterans Plaza, American Legion and VFW members gathered to pay tribute to the men and women who served in our military. All across Boerne ISD, ceremonies were held with musical performances, speeches and the pledge. And we checked in with Veteran Mark Sierra owner of Compadres who was feeding every veteran who came thru the door, and I asked what was different this year…

Attention Poets and poetry lovers….Hill Country Poets' Monthly Open Mic is this Thursday Nov 14! Always on the 2nd Thursday - and they meet in the breezeway between Richter and The Boerne Bookshop. Come share your own work, someone else's work, or just come and listen. Enjoy the food and drinks from Richter or browse around The Boerne Bookshop - it's always a good time! And a drawing for a surprise has been known to happen!

Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center needs help stocking their boutique with cooler weather clothing for the little ones that use their service. They are looking for new winter clothes, both boys and girls, sizes 9m to 5T, as well as shoes size 3 to 6. Furthermore, they need any size winter coat you can find. Donations can be dropped off at their location at 439 Fabra St, or you can check out their wish list online.

Alright get your phones out… it’s time to vote for Townes Oviedo from the Greyhounds for the Jon Wayne Player of the Week… he was Friday’s Player of the Game- you know the drill!-  tell a friend, and vote once every hour at POTG.JonWayne.com for him. Voting ends tomorrow at 2. Speaking of, we know the Greyhounds are in the playoffs, and they will host a first-round game this Thursday at 7 against Corpus Christi Carroll. We will have coverage of that game here on Boerne Radio.

Geneva Football made it to the TAPPS playoffs… and they will host a first round game as well but on Friday, as they take on Pantego Christian at 6. 

Some bouncing around for the Texas Longhorns on the AP poll the past few weeks. They are now ranked 3rd after a 49-17 win over Florida Saturday.  

The 4-6 Spurs are back in action tonight at the Frost Bank Center hosting the Sacramento Kings at 7. 

The Cowboys… without the injured Dak Prescott… lost, as expected. This was against division-rival Eagles, which doesn’t help Dallas’ divisional head-to-head record. Final score was 34-6. The good news is Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb did play, but their 3-6 record is slowly closing the window on their playoff hopes by the week.

It’s Monday November 11th. 

And it’s Veterans Day! And Boerne takes care of our Vets.  Captain Mark Tyler Voss American Legion Post 313 in partnership with Private Bruno Phillip Veterans of Foreign War Post 688 will be in full uniform in Veterans Plaza on Main Street with their 11:00 Ceremony.  

Compadres Hill Country Cocina continues their tradition, if you’re a Veteran, your lunch is on them.  Other Boerne Restaurants with similar offers include our Chili’s, Denny’s, Subway, and Wendy’s.

In one week there were two accidents - and 3 fatalities off I-10. Just two days after the death of two brothers on the access road, a 42 year old woman rolled her car off of I-10 near Boerne Stage Road at 5:30 in the morning. Unfortunately, the woman lost control of her car and hit a barrier, causing her car to flip and ejecting her from the vehicle. The identity of the woman has not been released. 

As today is Veterans Day nationally, The City of Boerne is celebrating Arbor Day tomorrow by planting 150 native trees donated by the APA Corporation. Because of the Texas sun, November is the ideal time to plant trees in order to ensure their success. City staff and volunteers from Burkett Arbor Care, the Rotary Club, and more will be planting the trees along the Cibolo and Fredricks Creeks, at the cemetery and behind the library. On top of all that, the City will be donating 65 trees to residents who want to contribute to the initiative. The trees will be available for pick-up from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at City Hall, and include varieties like Bald Cypress, Easter Cottonwood and Pecan.  

And it’s Bulky Item and Brush collection week, so if you have items that do not fit in your trashcan, such as an old mattress or furniture, the city will come and collect them. Pick-up will take place on your normal trash day, with items expected at the curb by 7 am.
