It’s Tuesday June 25th.
Just 6 more months until Christmas!
I’m Baron Wiley.
Tonight is the first summer performance of Abendkonzerte featuring The Boerne Village Band as the last one was canceled due to weather. The concert will explore German Folk Music, touch on Boerne’s rich history and unique culture. You can catch them tonight in Main Plaza at 7:30, so bring out your lawn chairs and coolers as tradition fills the air.
The results for the STAAR tests are in, and Boerne students scored higher than other schools across the state by far. While 88% of our students scored at least an “approaches standard” score, districts across the state tended to score 15% lower at 73%. However, not everything is as perfect as it seems. Math and science scores are on the decline overall, a potential side effect of the pandemic.
And if you missed it in the Boerne Star this weekend, Managing Editor Jeff Flinn listened in on the emergency meeting in Comfort and got the scoop on the concerns with Battery Storage Systems. Fire Marshall Brady Constantine was firm that he would heavily scrutinize anything that came across his desk from the three international firms who have rights to the land. According to County Commissioner Andra Wisian’s release the Commissioners Court recently adopted Chapter 12 of the 2024 International Fire Code which is the highest code currently available that can be adopted by a county. You can read more about the event by subscribing to the Boerne Star.
