Big programming alert - tonight the Boerne Greyhounds will face their great rivalry Alamo Heights tonight at 7 in one of the biggest games in San Antonio this week.   Boerne enters the contest 4-0 - our coverage starts at 5:00 with Fired Up Friday where the Greyhounds play DJ, Pregame show starts at 6:30 and a 7 o’clock kick off.  The Champion Austin Anderson home game will be streaming at texassportsproductions.com. 

Boerne Radio congratulates the Boerne Greyhound Class of 1976 celebrating their 50th High School Reunion tomorrow night at the Gathering Hall at Cibolo Center For Conservation…and so Boerne Radio will be playing DJ for the event starting at 6:00 tomorrow with the shout outs from the Boerne Class of 76 coming out of our speakers here on Boerne Radio 103.9FM.

In this weekend edition of the Boerne Star your headlines include the full story on The Kendall County Fair Association Meeting, Kendall County puts first money toward fixing Texas 46 West, a tease of next weeks Hill County Mile Rod Run, the Med Director Selection process called into question. 

After disagreements between commissioners and a committee, the Kendall County Commissioners Court decided to table the decision on who to select for medical director services. Archangel EMD has emerged as the frontrunner among some commissioners, though a review committee ranked it as a third choice. The City of Boerne has chosen Archangel as our provider, but some commissioners argue that should not have an impact on the county’s choice. 

We are about one week away from the Boerne Book Festival taking place next Saturday with an exciting lineup of author discussion panels, children’s activities, vendors, and more. This event will take place from 10 to 4 at the Patrick Heath Public Library and will feature several vendors, including the Kendall County Historical Commission, the Writer’s League of Texas and Sisters in Crime. 

The Boerne Education Foundation recently presented Boerne ISD with a $10,000 check to support the Boerne Outdoor Academy. This program is a nature-based learning experience designed for every 5th grade student in BISD. 

If you are struggling with your mental health, you are not alone here in Boerne. The Boerne Police department has a mental health division dedicated to those who need support headed by Officer Eric Gomez and Officer Rebecca Foley. If you need support, the Mental Health division can assist you at the Boerne Police Department or the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. 

Lots to do this weekend, The Cibolo Farmers Market at Herff Farm is open Saturday from 9 until 1. Guadalupe River State Park hosts another Honey Creek Guided Walk, and the Moondance Outdoor Concert Series returns Saturday night at The Cibolo.

Today, Ford of Boerne is also continuing its Load Up for Common Good Food Drive, collecting donations for local families in need.

And in Comfort, the newly renovated Comfort Golden Age Center celebrates with a ribbon cutting at 4 this afternoon, followed by an open house until 7.
