It was on this date in 1521 that Martin Luther is excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church by Pope Leo X. After being declared an outlaw, Martin Luther was hidden at Wartburg Castle, where he used the alias "Knight George" to translate the New Testament from Greek into German, completing it in 1522, and helped standardize the German language, with the full Bible published in 1534.

According to the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children site, Westin Pridgen of Boerne is no longer listed as missing. The 15 year old was reported missing and last seen on December 28th. And it’s that time of year, tickets for Empty Bowls Hill Country are now available for purchase. This event raises awareness and funds for hunger with the help of local artists and restaurants. Each $25 ticket allows you to select a unique and beautiful bowl, as well as choose a to-go bowl of soup. All proceeds will go on to benefit Hill Country Family Services Corner Cupboard and Kendall County Women’s Shelter. The event will happen on February 21st at the First United Methodist Church.
Today, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is hosting a blood drive at Rolling Oaks Mall in Northeast San Antonio, and if you donate, you will win 2 tickets to the Spurs vs Portland Trailblazers on January 3.
