The name was in honor of German-Jewish satirist and political writer Karl Ludwig Börne who had died in France fifteen years earlier. Theissen and James also helped settle Sisterdale. With the hope of new economic opportunities and freedoms, a German-based organization, known as the Adelsverein, eventually caught wind of this territory and initiated mass immigration. Theissen was later known as a Wall Street financial wizard.

Geneva Football took a little drive to Waco this past weekend and competed in the TAPPS 7-on-7 football tournament and took home the championship from the bronze bracket. The Eagles are getting it done even in the offseason. 

Speaking of, we are just a little over a month away from the start of the high school football season.

You remember a few years ago when Kawhi Leonard wanted out from the Spurs, and there was a controversy around it?- Well, college baseball may have its equivalent. A little less than 24 hours after losing the College World Series as A&M’s head coach, then calling a reporter ‘selfish’ when asked about a coaching job at UT, Jim Schlossnagle has gone from Aggie to Longhorn head coach, as multiple sources have reported. Fans of both teams have been either celebrating or bashing Schlossnagle for his decision and behavior towards it… Either way, in a newly-aligned SEC conference where he will have to meet his old counterparts while wearing burnt orange, Texas has set up a $2.7 million buyout for his contract.

I mentioned the Spurs earlier… Speaking of them… the NBA Draft starts tonight in what will be the first-ever 2-night draft. San Antonio has the 4th and 8th picks, and the order is still a toss-up, according to many analysts. It all starts tonight at 7.

It’s Wednesday June 26th. 



And born on this date in 1909 - Colonel Tom Parker who was Elvis' manager,  ·         Billy Davis Jr. - vocalist for The Fifth Dimension with their big hit "Up, Up and Away" was born in 1938 - he turns 86 today.·         And Mick Jones of The Clash born in 1955 turns 69 today. ·         And Redneck Woman Gretchen Wilson is 51.

The Boerne City Council meeting took place last night, and here are some of the highlights. The Parks and Rec department got approval to apply for a grant to work on their projects in 2025. The Esperanza site for water will eventually need to have carbon filters installed, but for the moment City Council has approved a Tank Mizer Project to help with mixing ground water. With Buc-ee’s moving forward with plans to build, the city needs to move water and power lines that go through their purchased property, and the council approved a contract to do so. They also discussed the timeline of approving a budget, and discussed term limits. 



The folks at the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office know how to get it done! After a giant tree fell into local county roadway 474 and TXDot was not able to get to it, Sgt Dudley, Deputy Russel and Deputy Powell revved up their chainsaws and got to work. They were able to clear the blockage, ensuring the safety of the locals that live and drive along the road. 



Some San Antonio News - The Hooters on E. Commerce in downtown SA has permanently closed along with several other Hooters around Texas including Bryan, Lubbock, San Angelo and McAllen.  A spokesperson for Hooters spoke to Boerne Radio with the following statement… “our plans for Boerne haven’t changed and we look forward to our new store coming soon” - official disclaimer if you’re new to Boerne - welcome to Boerne and it’s all a hoax.
