More than a dozen teams from around the country will head to Ngati Toa domain over the long Waitangi weekend for the National Club Sevens tournament.

The Paremata-Plimmerton rugby club is hosting the event after winning the tournament last year.

The club's director of rugby Gerrard Fasavalu joined Adam Cooper to run through what's planned and how preparations are tracking.

The countdown is on for the Asia-Pacific's preeminent women's amateur golf championship at Royal Wellington early next month.

The Women's Amateur Asia Pacific Championship begins on February 12, with golfers travelling from all corners of the globe to take part.

Many local eyes will be on Lower Hutt golfer Darae Chung, who's currently at the University of Oregon.

She joined Adam Cooper to discuss her tournament preparation and how important a strong result would be for her golfing trajectory.

Despite back to back wins over Canterbury to conclude the Super Smash round robin, the Wellington Firebirds season is over after winning just three of their nine completed games.

However, the Wellington Blaze's bid for their title defence continues to gain momentum, with their latest win over the Magicians keeping them tentatively at the top of the table a week out from the playoffs.

To look at both teams' seasons, Adam was joined by TVNZ commentator and former White Fern Frankie Mackay.
