Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema has been re-elected for a second five-year term after securing 60% of the vote. The result follows a contested election process, with his closest challenger, Brian Mundubile, earlier claiming victory and alleging voting irregularities, although he did not provide evidence to support the claims. After being declared the winner, Hichilema said the election had demonstrated that Zambia is a country of peace, law and order, and a democratic nation that settles its differences at the ballot box rather than through other means.
