The humanitarian situation in Somalia remains dire, with millions experiencing significant hunger and malnutrition. The latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis estimates that about 5.4 million people will face crisis-level hunger or worse from October to December, including 1.5 million expected to face emergency-level hunger or worse. The Somali government and the United Nations have indicated that the situation may worsen, as heavy flooding linked to the expected El Niño weather pattern could disrupt lives and hinder access to essential services.
