Dr Diyeli  Aigbe, Lecturer in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies at the Caleb University in Lagos has welcomed reports of the killing of 175 Islamic State militants  in a series of joint air and ground strikes in Nigeria's northeast region in recent days. Nigerian forces, working with the United States Africa Command  -AFRCICOM, through a series of joint air and ground strikes in the country's northeast,  destroyed checkpoints, weapons caches, logistics hubs, and financing networks used by Islamic State West Africa Province, which has led a years-long insurgency in the region.
