The Nigerian Human Rights Commission (NHC) says it is concerned about continuing reports of mass abductions in Niger State, where families and communities have expressed anguish over the prolonged captivity of their loved ones.
The commission released its September report on Wednesday, saying it recorded more than 338 000 human rights violations across its offices nationwide.
The NHC has called on relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to secure affected communities, rescue abducted people and ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice.
