INTRO: With more than four out of ten young people unemployed in South Africa, the country continues to have one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world as it commemorates Youth Month in June. While the government and the private sector search for solutions, some young South Africans are taking matters into their own hands by starting businesses and creating jobs in their communities. However, access to funding, mentorship and markets remains a major hurdle for many aspiring entrepreneurs. Channel Africa's Lebogang Mabange reports

Rwanda's Foreign Affairs Minister, Olivier Nduhungirehe, has called for a united African response to help resolve the decades-long conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Speaking during a visit to South Africa this week, where he met his South African counterpart, Ronald Lamola, Nduhungirehe said that lasting peace in the DRC would require sustained commitment from the entire continent. Ghana recently hosted the High-Level Consultative Conference on Reparatory Justice in Accra, bringing together stakeholders to advance the global reparatory justice agenda and follow up on the United Nations General Assembly resolution on the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Speaking at the conference, Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Ablakwa, said the campaign for reparations has gained "unprecedented momentum" since the adoption of the UN resolution in March. Meanwhile, South Africa's Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Maropene Ramokgopa, reaffirmed the country's support for reparatory justice for Africa and people of African descent.
