African Anti-Corruption Day was commemorated over the weekend, marking the adoption of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption. Since its establishment, the day has served as a platform for reflection, advocacy and renewed action against corruption across the continent.
This year’s theme, “Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa”, underscores the need to strengthen transparency, accountability and good governance. African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf says the fight against corruption is fundamental to advancing Africa’s development, peace, security and social justice.
