The Electoral Commission of South Africa (SA) is today officially launching the 2026 Local Government Elections campaign, outlining its state of readiness ahead of the voter registration weekend scheduled for the 20th and 21st of June.
The launch is also expected to provide insight into the Commission's communication strategy, operational plans, and key electoral information aimed at encouraging public participation and confidence in the electoral process.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to Masego Shiburi, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer at the Electoral Commission of SA, to unpack what South Africans can expect in the lead-up to the 2026 Local Government Elections.
