Communities and civil society groups in South Africa march against GBV following discovery of bodies of nine murdered women

View descriptionShare

Communities and civil society groups in South Africa are holding marches and protests across Gauteng province, demanding greater police accountability following the discovery of the bodies of nine murdered women in less than two months.

NotInMyName International has called on South Africans, particularly men, to speak out against violence against women, saying silence amounts to complicity. The organisation says communities cannot claim to love their mothers, sisters and daughters while remaining passive in the face of violence against women.

Lulu Gaboo spoke to Channel Africa’s Reporter Michael Mbewe.
