The first batch of Ghanaians fleeing the streets of South Africa has arrived home to a warm reception led by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, and have been promised resettlement assistance by the government. More than 50.5 million people are registered to vote, a 32% increase compared to 2021. Uganda has closed its border with neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for four weeks in an effort to curb the spread of Ebola. The closure takes immediate effect, with exemptions for Ebola response teams, humanitarian and security operations, as well as food and cargo transport. Uganda's Health Ministry has also suspended high-risk public activities, including music concerts, entertainment shows, cultural festivals and other recreational gatherings. The country has so far recorded seven Ebola cases and one death linked to the outbreak, whose epicentre is in Congo's Ituri province.
