Cape Verde President José Maria Neves announced on Monday that the country will hold legislative elections on May 17 and a presidential election on November 15, following consultations with the Council of the Republic and registered political parties. However, questions remain about how robust and trustworthy Cape Verde's governance institutions are, including the electoral commission responsible for overseeing elections in the country.
