Zambia opposition leaders remain in custody as police investigate alleged treason offence

Zambian opposition leader Brian Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, remain in Police custody after being handed over by the United Nations (UN) in Lusaka on Thursday. The authorities accused the opposition of planning an armed insurgency, which they denied. The arrest took place days before the inauguration of president - elect Hakainde Hichilema who was confirmed winner of the August 13 general elections.  Before we speak to our correspondent in Zambia, let us listen to the Public Relations Officer for the Zambia Police Service, Godfrey Chilabi. He says statements have been recorded from Mundubile and Zulu in connection with an alleged offence of treason. We spoke to  Arthur Davies Sikopo, Channel African Correspondent in Zambia
