The International Committee of the Red Cross is urging States to agree on clear legal limits, arguing that human judgment and accountability must remain at the centre of decisions to use force. On The Discourse this morning, we turn our attention to Nepal, where massive search-and-rescue and mop-up operations are continuing following devastating flash floods swept through parts of the country on Wednesday. The disaster has killed hundreds and left more than 1,000 people missing, including hundreds of foreign nationals, with Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading among the worst-affected districts. For audiences across Africa, there are particular concerns about Africans caught up in the disaster, with six South African nationals currently reported missing; no other African nationality has been separately identified in the latest published breakdown. For a look at the situation facing foreign nationals and African citizens on the ground, the communities most severely affected and what aid workers urgently need, we spoke to Prabin Basnyat, a researcher and philanthropist, he is speaking to us from Tarakeshwar Municipality in Nepal's Bagmati Province

The deadline to register your customary marriage in South Africa is this coming Monday the 31st August... Government says couples who tied the knot either before or after the year 2000 without formalising their union they have until Monday to register the marriages with the department of Home Affairs. A customary marriage is legal and valid in South Africa once the cultural requirements are met, even if it is never registered with the Department of Home Affairs, however registration serves as official proof of the marriage. This also protests spouses from severe legal battles over inheritance, pension funds, and deceased estates. To discuss this further, we spoke to Saneli Ngcobo, Notary Lawyer and Founder and Managing Director of Ngcobo SN Inc

South Africans urged to register customary marriages before the 31 August deadline for legal protection

Zambian opposition leader Brian Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, remain in Police custody after being handed over by the United Nations (UN) in Lusaka on Thursday. The authorities accused the opposition of planning an armed insurgency, which they denied. The arrest took place days before the inauguration of president - elect Hakainde Hichilema who was confirmed winner of the August 13 general elections.  Before we speak to our correspondent in Zambia, let us listen to the Public Relations Officer for the Zambia Police Service, Godfrey Chilabi. He says statements have been recorded from Mundubile and Zulu in connection with an alleged offence of treason. We spoke to  Arthur Davies Sikopo, Channel African Correspondent in Zambia
