Across Africa, getting elected is becoming an expensive business - and critics warn it's pricing out capable leaders and fuelling corruption. In Accra, Ghana, a major regional convening wraps up tomorrow: the High-Level Regional Convening on the Financialisation of Politics in Africa, bringing together government officials, anti-corruption bodies, electoral experts and civil society to confront the growing role of money in politics. It follows a landmark UN resolution on political finance transparency adopted late last year, and comes as the African Union works on a continental model law on political financing. I spoke to one of the delegates Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development

Former Senegalese President Macky Sall will return to Senegal this Friday on his first public visit to the country since leaving office. He travels to Senegal to seek a formal endorsement from the current Senegalese government, as he campaigns for the post of U.N. secretary-general. Sall remains a divisive figure in Senegal following his unsuccessful attempt to postpone the 2024 presidential election, a move that triggered deadly protests and was ultimately struckdown by the Constitutional Council. He is expected to meet with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye before leaving Dakar. Tsepiso Makwetla spoke to Paul Ejime, Global politics and governance analyst
