South Africa is stepping up preparations for its leadership role in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as the country's Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) is hosting a three-day high-level Inter-departmental workshop with SADC Secretariat to align government priorities ahead of the country's SADC chairship. The session brings together senior government officials, state-owned enterprises, development finance institutions, and representatives from the SADC Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana. Women judges from across the continent have gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa for the 2nd High-Level Meeting of Women Judicial Leaders of Africa. 
The three-day meeting, hosted by the country's judiciary in partnership with the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa, comes as the continent marks 20 years since the adoption of the Maputo Protocol, a key legal framework aimed at protecting women’s rights.  Delegates used the gathering to assess progress in gender equality within the courts and to strengthen judicial responses to violence and discrimination.  Musa Mhlongo filed this report…
