Uganda Military Chief and son of President Museveni, orders closure of major media outlets amid press freedom concerns

The chief of Uganda's military, Muhoozi Kainerugaba - who's also the son of Presiden Yoweri Museveni - has ordered the closure of two of the country's biggest media outlets. The Daily Monitor, which is the country's largest independent daily newspaper, and NTV Uganda, one of the largest private broadcasters, were being shut down. No reasons where given on the decision to close the media houses. In a statement by General Kainerugaba  on the X platform - he said all media houses in the country should follow the rules and that  ALL bad stories about Uganda have to be cleared by his office.Tsepiso Makwetla spoke to Jude Byamukama, Constitutional Lawyer in Uganda
