Sierra Leone Receives First US Flight Carrying Third-Country Deportees from West Africa

The first flight of so-called third-country deportees from the US, is expected to arrive in Sierra Leone today(Wednesday) transporting 25 nationals from Senegal, Ghana, Guinea and Nigeria. Sierra Leone signed a Third Country National Agreement with the US to accept 300 ECOWAS citizens from America, per year with a maximum of 25 people a month. The US has previously sent third-country deportees to African states including Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Eswatini. Tsepiso Makwetla spoke to Sierra Leone Foreign Affairs Minister, Timothy Kabba
