SADAG Urges South Africans to Start Conversations on Suicide Prevention

As countries mark World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 today - the 10th of September, the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has launched its annual suicide prevention campaign with a message: "Every Conversation Counts". The campaign highlights the power of starting conversations about suicide and mental health. SADAG says sometimes, simply asking someone how they are, listening without judgement, and creating a safe space to talk can make a meaningful difference. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), suicide rates in Africa remain a critical public health concern. We spoke to Lebohang Mokoena, Volunteer Training Coordinator at SADAG
