View descriptionShare

It’s time now for The Discourse, and this morning we go to Senegal, where the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights is conducting a pre-mission ahead of its 89th Ordinary Session.  The mission is part of preparations for the session, which will also mark 40 years since the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights came into force — a milestone for Africa’s human-rights system.  The anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on four decades of progress, as well as the challenges that remain in promoting and protecting human rights across the continent. For more on this, we crossed to Dakar, Senegal, and spoke to Abiola Idowu-Ojo, Executive Secretary of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
