The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held an emergency meeting on Tuesday, requested by France and Indonesia, after three UN peacekeepers were killed in southern Lebanon within a 24-hour period. The Police Commissioner of South Africa's Western Cape province, Thembisile Patekile, says they'll continue their operations with soldiers in gang-infested areas on the Cape Flats. The army and police members conducted search operations in Tafelsig in Mitchell's Plain today as part of Operation Prosper as today marks the first day of the deployment of the army to crime-ridden areas on the Cape Flats. The operation will assist the South African Police Service in combating gang violence and illegal mining. President Cyril Ramaphosa during his State of the Nation Address announced the deployment of the SANDF to gang hotspots across the country. Andile Mbanjwa reports...
