Hundreds of Mozambicans have taken to the streets in demonstrations against the election results, following an election that declared ruling party- Frelimo winner of election amid fraud claims by the opposition political parties.
The Constitutional Council has confirmed the results and the situation remains tense in the country. The post-election unrest in Mozambique has forced thousands of people to flee their homes. In Malawi, the UN Refugee Agency the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the government have identified around two thousand who crossed into the country in the past few weeks.
In neighbouring Eswatini, about one thousand people have arrived. Amongst the new arrivals are refugees and asylum seekers of various nationalities who have been living in Mozambique.
