Calm has returned to the streets of Orlando West in the South African city of Johannesburg, following violent protests sparked by a recent Constitutional Court ruling on the country's Refugee laws. Members of the South African National Defense Force and riot police were deployed to the area after atleast 10 vehicles were torched and damaged, folowing a surge in the number of foreign nationals seeking assistance at Home Affairs and immigration offices. Local residents say they feel unsupported by government and want their concerns over immigration and economic opportunities in the township addressed.
