South Africa wants to position itself as a continental leader in Artificial Intelligence governance and innovation. Government has unveiled a draft AI policy and is now seeking public comment on the proposed regulations. The policy doesn't just ask companies to be ethical; it creates a formal AI Ombudsperson and an AI Ethics Board to monitor them.
