Diplomatic and reliable military sources say Tigrayan rebels are now about 100 kilometres from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
The dramatic swift advance by the rebels comes at a time when Ethiopia's Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of Ethiopian federal forces, is at the front line to prevent the rebels from entering the Ethiopian capital.
