South Africa's Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment affairs has refused to give authorisation to Turkish powership company- Karpowership, blocking the energy company from providing emergency power to the debilitated South African grid. The application was dismissed on environmental grounds. Karpowership was named as a major winner in a government emergency power tender designed to help ease crippling power cuts.
