More than four thousand members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) are on an indefinite strike at Impala Platinum mines in Rustenburg.
These are workers who are employed by contract companies Newrak, Reagetswe Mining Group and Triple M Mining.
According to NUMSA, they have been provoked into taking this drastic action because they are fed up with being abused by these labour brokers who exploit them by paying them very little and denying them benefits while they reap massive profits.
To talk to us more about this, we spoke to Phakamile Hlubi-Majola spokesperson at NUMSA..
