Mozambique has been elected a non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council for the biennium 2023 to 2024.
Mozambique is joined by Ecuador, Japan, Malta and Switzerland as newly-elected members of the UN body responsible for the maintenance of global peace and security.
The five new non-permanent members ran largely uncontested.
