Fuel prices in South Africa went down at midnight, which is a turnaround from last month's across-the-board price increase. 

Petrol will be cheaper by around 9 cents per litre, with diesel at 30 cents per litre drop, and illuminating paraffin down by 23 cents.

Mozambique proposes Sovereign Fund to curb poverty

A group of civil society organisations in South Africa has launched litigation against government over what it says are "unfair and exclusionary" regulations for the $22 Social Relief of Distress Grant.

They want the current regulations declared unconstitutional and set aside.

The group says the regulations deprive millions of people in need of social assistance.

Under the new regulations, grant applicants are disqualified if they have an income into their bank account of more than $22 per month.
