Uganda's opposition party the National Unity Platform (NUP), has intensified its rejection of the outcome of the 15 January general elections, which returned President Yoweri Museveni to power. Speaking to Channel Africa after a protest march at the Ugandan Embassy in Pretoria on Monday, NUP convener Richard Kamya, accused the Ugandan authorities of presiding over a fundamentally compromised electoral process. Kamya alleged widespread military interference in voting, ballot stuffing, and systematic manipulation of results, saying the party does not recognise the election outcome and considers the process illegitimate.
