Namibian courts note rise in divorce cases in the past three years

Namibian courts have seen a steady increase in the number of divorce cases in the past three years, with some blaming a lack of experienced pastors, who may not be fully equipped to guide couples through marital challenges. This comes as the country's High Court recorded a total of 111 divorce cases today, with the Windhoek division recording 67, and the Oshakati division recording 44 divorce matters on the roll. Despite this rise, Namibia remains on the lower end of divorce rates when compared to neighbouring African countries, including South Africa at  2.1 per 1,000 population and Zimbabwe at 0.07 per 1,000 people.
