South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed the country's National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola, on precautionary suspension pending the finalization of a case he is facing. The President says he has appointed Puleng Dimpane as the Acting National Police Commissioner.
The President was addressing the media from the Union Buildings in Pretoria. Masemola faces four charges relating to the contravention of the Public Finances Management Act. This relates to the contract awarded to alleged criminal mastermind Cat Matlala's Medicare24.
