SA Border Management Authority Chief says migration must be managed, not stopped
The Commissioner of South Africa’s Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato, says migration should be managed rather than stopped, emphasising the need to distinguish between migration, irregular migration and illegal migration.
The BMA says a clearer understanding of these concepts is essential to avoid confusion when addressing migration challenges.
Masiapato was speaking at the inaugural Dynamics of Migration Seminar, hosted by the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs at the University of South Africa in Pretoria on Monday.
