KwaZulu-Natal police in South Africa were forced to use stun grenades to disperse a group of Malawian nationals at Sherwood Hall in Durban, following tensions between the group and immigration officials.
The hall has been serving as a temporary refuge for thousands of Malawian nationals for nearly two weeks, amid fears of attacks linked to protests against undocumented foreign nationals. The group is currently awaiting processing for repatriation or deportation.
Mpho Sithole spoke to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, KZN Police Spokesperson to get an update on the situation.
